
Product Development Engineer

- Lead part design in accordance with internal best practices where applicable
- Implement design considerations for manufacturing efficiency, feasibility, and ease of assembly. The expected result is a product that offers superior value.
- Develop required solutions and supporting data in accordance with required customer timing and milestone events
- Lead and conduct appropriate product validations during design development, to avoid engineering changes resulting in unforeseen costs / charges to L&L.
- As part of the program team, participate in the execution of the Product Development Process (PDP) for the assigned projects in accordance to the L&L procedures and instructions as defined by management.
- To understand tool design and related processes. To have working knowledge of tooling created for specific parts, in an effort to understand impact of future designs and/or related engineering changes, and to drive product designs that can me manufactured at the lowest possible cost.
- Be willing to travel, as required, to support the global customer.
- To manage, coordinate and document all engineering, product design specifications, as well as verification and validation tests in accordance to TS16949 procedures and instructions. This would include coordination of revisions to DFMEA, DVVP&R, PVMFC, Oracle Item Creation, Design Profiles and other pertinent supporting documents. Updates and maintenance of the part/program related data within the above documents are to be executed in a timely manner.
- To initiate, review and approve all engineering changes.
- To participate in product design reviews.
- To access and be proficient in utilizing OEM specific engineering release change systems in relation to part applications within assigned programs.
- Provide personal representation at customer builds on initial and / or modified part trails when technical support is appropriate.
- Conduct reviews to assure quality CAD models and drawing formats meet both internal and external customer standards.
- Access CAD systems for design and engineering activity.
- When appropriate, create customer-based illustrations for part installation.
- Be a problem-solving resource for internal commercial group customers offering assistance with analytical and testing techniques to help resolve issues.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related sciences
- Communication skills, written and oral, effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Desired body structures experience.
- Customer appropriate engineering release and change systems
- Customer appropriate data management systems, GD&T
- Appropriate Oracle training specific to item creation
