- New innovative compositions will be designed and prototyped as powders for LPBF technology using a new pilot atomizer. Samples will be printed from each batch of powder by an LPBF printing partner and will then be characterized at C-TEC. This characterization will include a characterization of the internal health of the samples by optical microscopy and SEM (porosity, cracks, microstructure) and a mechanical characterization: hardness, tensile tests, fatigue and creep for the most promising alloys. The effect of post-fabrication heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties will also be studied during this internship. The candidate will participate in identifying new compositions to be tested based on the results obtained during the first iterations. Finally, a detailed bibliographic study will be carried out to position the microstructures and mechanical performances obtained on our alloys in relation to literature data.
