  • Engaging with Stakeholders to develop most relevant product/service specifications
  • Supports the designing and deploying of category and sourcing strategies that align to the business and divisional strategies and requirements
  • Delivering sustainable competitive through the effective sourcing and spend management of the within the categories
  • Minimising Detection risk exposure within the category
  • Utilising best in class procurement practices.
  • Promote and communicate the value of the Indirect Procurement function across the business
  • Coordinate with local/regional procurement to consolidate further category spend
Missions and ResponsibilitiesPrograms & Services EMEA:
  • Supports the development and implementation of the global category strategy for 3rd party services providers in the EMEA region.
  • Working closely with the Service / Aftermarket team to align agreements with 3rd party service providers with our customers' requirements and to ensure terms are passed on to them on a back-to-back basis where they exceed Smiths' standard terms with vendors.
  • Manage supplier relationships with 3rd party Service providers that perform maintenance, repairs and installations of Smiths Detection equipment for our customers in the EMEA region.
  • Develop RfP material for key partners via interpretation internal client tender documents.
  • Establish cost requirements for each program including but not limited to Warranty, Product Cost, Payment Terms, INCO Terms, etc.
  • Proactively negotiate, aligned with legal teams, commercial and legal terms and identify/highlight any gaps aligned with customer commitments.
  • Summarise key contractual and commercial outcome and risks for RORB/DORB Process and communicate to senior leadership.
  • Develop plans for equipment lead times with key partners in line with client tender requirements.
Indirect EMEA:
  • Operates in all categories.
  • Engages with local/regional Stakeholders to align demand and sourcing strategy.
  • Aligns sourcing activities with global indirect category strategies and delegates to Category Managers/Strategic Leads where required.
  • Ensures local market dynamics, supplier availability, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Identifies cost saving opportunities, trends, cost drivers, and risks specific to the site and/or region, adapting procurement strategies accordingly.
General:
  • Responsible for leading cross-functional teams of operational stakeholders through the sourcing process to deliver breakthrough results that deliver commercial advantage for Smiths Detection.
  • Supports the Indirect Procurement Head and Category Managers in the development and implementation of a clear category strategy for the Detection Group.
  • Responsible for ensuring suppliers provide value for money and business benefit to the company, including innovative proposals and following the Smiths Detection Sustainable Sourcing Strategy.
  • Expected to have in depth knowledge of commercial and contract management trends in the respective supply markets to apply best practice to supplier management.
  • Develop relationships with existing Suppliers that leverage spend to reduce costs whilst delivering innovation and benefit to our business.
  • Develop new strategic relationships with new suppliers and partners to meet customer needs and requirements.
  • Lead cost management exercises to identify waste and drive immediate savings in external costs.
  • Identify opportunities to exploit economies of scale (group leverage, standardization, normalisation of suppliers etc.)
  • Working with key stakeholders to gain an in-depth understanding of the industry and related business models is essential.
  • The role is critical in driving improved customer experiences and reducing risk through the supply base within the categories.
  • The role is not exhaustive, and the Company may require you from time to time to undertake other reasonable tasks within your capacity.
QualificationsRequired Profile:
  • Work with the Indirect Procurement Head to deliver a long-term indirect procurement vision, with a clear strategy and operating plan, supporting the Category Team's objectives to the Detection Group, business strategy and improving the measurable contribution of the Team to business performance.
  • Direct accountability and responsibility for the development and delivery of the relevant Subcategory Strategies.
  • To implement Supplier Relationship Management as an effective and efficient process, ensuring compliance with all policies, minimum standards and governance/risk mechanisms.
  • To ensure that all supplier agreements are effectively implemented by the Managers within the category team.
  • To work with staff within the Division to ensure all procurement activity aligns as effectively as possible to corporate goals and deliver continuous improvement and innovation.
  • To have insight and understanding of business requirements and relevant supply market developments on a 1-3-year horizon.
  • Results and Performance: To be accountable for the quality and effectiveness of delivery measured by an agreed balanced scorecard to achieve service and financial outcomes.
  • Fully understand the Divisional business model, how the various businesses functions deliver value to customers and how that service is supported cost effectively by thirdrd party providers.
  • Review contracts and sourcing activities relative to the business strategy.
  • Build and continuously improve the Category Managers capability within the business to meet the agreed strategy, encompassing services, structure, people, skills, knowledge, processes, technology and information.
  • Strong experience in leading Procurement projects from end to end, working to a structured process for RFIs and RFPs
  • Building and implementing buying strategies, working with stakeholders and Business functions to gain agreement and commitment to change
  • Managing supplier negotiations
  • Supplier relationship management processes, supported structured supplier performance reviews
  • Managing and influencing stakeholders and suppliers
  • Working and delivering within a complex firm or organization
  • Has experience of working with e-sourcing, spend and savings analytics tools
