The Synthetics Platform team builds and maintains the core infrastructure behind our Synthetics products. Our systems operate at global scale-running across 30+ regions and multiple cloud providers-to ensure reliable, low-latency observability for users around the world.The team is notably responsible for:
  • Deploying new locations to run Synthetics tests,
  • Building tooling to deploy software in them,
  • Setting up cloud provider specific services for supporting the product,
  • Selecting the hardware in a cost efficient manner,
  • Overseeing the reliability of the products,
  • Interfacing with the Datadog infrastructure teams.

  • Lead and mentor a team of experienced SREs and Software developers around the globe who are passionate about testing API and Website reliability at scale.
  • Develop tooling to manage existing Synthetics locations and to deploy to new ones
  • Design, plan, develop tools to do various type of migrations in a fully automated way without any downtime in many regions/cloud providers
  • Help shape new infrastructure technologies serving the Synthetics product
  • Be an expert helping Synthetics developers to make better architecture decisions and configure their services
  • Be on-call for part of the services running the Synthetics product
Who You Are:
  • You are an experienced people manager, or technical leader with strong mentorship skills. Ideally candidates will have experience in career development, performance management, tracking and optimizing team velocity, sprint planning, OKRs, and hiring.
  • You have experience in Site Reliability Engineering
  • You have experience running production environments within one or several Cloud environments
  • You handle infrastructure with code, as automation lets you focus on the more difficult and rewarding problems
  • You have production experience in distributed compute/storage tools, e.g. Kubernetes, Cassandra, Postgres, Kafka, Redis
  • You have programming experience in a structured programming language (Go, Python, Java, etc)
  • You value correctness and efficiency; you leave no stone unturned when diagnosing production issues
