Technical Manager - Data Centers (Western Europe)

- Define the roadmap and long-term strategy in terms of technical direction and standards for the technical team and wider CBRE team
- Mentor and grow the technical standard and competence of the technical staff across the Region, ensuring knowledge share, engineering best practice is exercised and consistency across all the Data Centres
- Assist in the business development process with input to RFI, RFP, solutions proposals and presentations
- Assist the project team with input to RFI, RFP, solutions proposals and presentations
- Oversee the development & implementation of all procedures, CE documentation and operating policies
- Network with other Technical Managers across DCS, share best practise and cross pollinate into the Region
- Collaborate with preferred suppliers to identify innovative solutions and sell these into client sites
- Participate in recruitment process for all key positions (e.g. Contract Manager, Technical Supervisor)
- Review RCA’s and sign-off final report to CBRE leadership/customer
- From all incidents, investigations, or RCA’s - produce learnings from experience documents to be shared internally as well as across the wider DCS
- Create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement throughout the team, identify and implement design improvements alongside the Clients operations manager and CBRE Technical Director
- Become a reliability leader for CBRE and provide input into main scope or works &/or global PM standards for CE maintenance
- Review, provide input and oversee all technical training requirements rolled out by the wider CBRE including but not limited to Authorised Person & Senior AP certifications
- Be a supporting escalation contact during significant events or multi-discipline technical incidents occurring on site 24/7, participate in the completion of the incident report
- Review and develop operational procedures and drills within the Data Centres
- Audit the CE team’s efficiency and performance, develop efficiencies and innovations that benefit the customer and CBRE.
- Assist CM’s to talent manage all staff within the Technical team to ensure appropriate training plans, performance reviews and career progression is identified
- Ensure basic training needs are delivered, employees are fully competent to undertake their roles, and are able to reach their full future potential

- Manage other tasks as directed by your senior management team
- Reporting directly to the Regional Director
- Accountability to the CBRE functional heads within the Region
- Maintains close working relationships with key client representatives
- 8+ years of work experience in Critical Operations
- 4+ years management experience at Technical Lead or Contract Manager within a critical environment
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant discipline, with preference in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- In-depth knowledge of Data Center Facilities such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, liquid cooling, electrical sub-distribution systems, fire detection and suppression systems, cable reticulation systems
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to develop systems, solutions, and products. Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience
- Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems
- Technical knowledge and/or experience of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure used in a data centre environment.
- Strong understanding of CMMS Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and tools
- Experience of managing escalation and emergency issues
- Prior operations management experience including team management, work scheduling, and performance reviews
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours to resolve technical issues in a 24/7 industry
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with the client, employees and subcontractors.
- Numerate and computer literate. Intermediate to advanced software skills - MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Visio and Microsoft Project.
- Excellent motivational and influencing skills, with high levels of personal integrity. Has vision, and able to communicate this effectively. A role model for customer service excellence and politically astute.
