The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tools that support various disciplines within the development team, including art, design, and programming.
This role requires strong technical expertise and a passion for creating efficient, user-friendly tools that streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
The Tool Developer will report to and work under the management of the Lead Developer.Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain custom tools and pipelines to improve the efficiency and workflows of other teams, such as designers, artists, and developers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks in current workflows and develop solutions to address those needs.
- Ensure that all tools are well-documented, user-friendly, and integrate seamlessly into the existing development pipeline.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tools and pipelines, ensuring smooth operation across the team.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and tool development best practices, and implement new technologies where appropriate.
- Optimize tools for performance, scalability, and ease of use.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members on how to effectively use the tools.
- Conduct regular code reviews and contribute to maintaining a high standard of code quality.
- Report to and work under the guidance of the Technical Director, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical direction.
- Proven experience in tool development or similar roles, with expertise in creating custom tools and pipelines for game development or similar industries.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C#, or C++.
- Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and knowledge of their scripting and tool development environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges across multiple teams.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members from different disciplines.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Experience in creating artist- or designer-friendly tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of mobile game development and online multiplayer systems is desirable.
